Service Description
Private one-on-one beginners 5 week meditation course. Together we will work with the 4 pillars of mindfulness for meditation which include: mindfulness of body, mindfulness of feeling (vedana), mindfulness of mind and mindfulness of mental object/focus. We will expand on mindfulness and deepen by unpacking the foundational pillars necessary to build and establish a successful meditation practice. Each class will include knowledge teaching and experiential practice designed to support the development of a 20 minute a day practice to begin. During our meditation practice we will use the focus of breath or a simple mantra as an object of focus to apply the principles of mindfulness in our practice. Some of the foundational principles include: Abhyasa - steady practice Pratyaphija – acknowledgement of what is Utsaha – fortitude or perserverance Supravi – focused attentive mindfulness Saralata – honesty of what is (different than truthfulness) Shamata - peaceful, receptive acceptance of what is, using mindfulness. Vairagya – impartiality to sensations, or emotions Sakshi – witness, observer Nirodhyama – process of effortless letting go Acesta – effortless presence Viveka – intuitive discrimination Vimoksa – persistence in letting go
