Meditation Course
Establishing Pillars of Meditation
Service Title
This meditation course is for the beginner or the established practitioner who wants to deepen their practice with knowledge and guidance. Together we will work to unfold and deepen the pillars of mindfulness in meditation with the support of the art of compassion. For beginners we will set the ground with mindfulness of body, mindfulness of feeling, mindfulness of mind and mindfulness of merging and letting go with a mantra. We unpack the foundational pillars necessary to build and establish a successful meditation practice. Each class will include teaching and experiential practice designed to support the development of a 20-40 minute a day practice to begin. During our meditation practice we will use the focus of breath in the beginning and move to a mantra as our object of focus to apply the principles of mindfulness and the pillars of meditation in our practice. Some of the foundational principles we will explore include: • Abhyasa - steady practice • Pratyaphija – acknowledgement of what is • Utsaha – fortitude or perserverance • Supravi – focused attentive mindfulness • Saralata – honesty with what is • Vairagya – the ability to back out of sensations, or emotions • Sakshi – Establishing the witness or observer • Saralya – innocence • Adambha – sincerity • Nirodhyama – process of transcendence • Acesta – effortless presence • Viveka – intuitive discrimination • Vimoksa – persistence in letting go • Susravasya – receptivity or willingness to receive • Anutseka – humility You will walk away from this class with a potent and effective meditation practice to explore and deepen in practice with over time.
